The VHS (Video Home System) boom of the 1980's meant the future had finally arrived and it was an exciting time.
Video cassettes could be hired from almost anywhere including carousels in delis, fish & chip shops or news agencies. And of course, the mind blowing vast and vibrant video stores decorated with awesome marketing material.
The video boom also opened doors for some of the most absurd low budget content ever released on tape. Politically wrong coming of age comedies, exploitation films, post apocalyptic, mystical barbarians, gore, horror and extremely terrorizing titles were strangely quite accessible but the unsupervised X-Rated section was separated by a red velvet curtain with a dangling adults only sign. Despite all those ludicrous genres, the home made business promotional videos are definitely the most preposterous of them all.
Ghetto Video revolves around the video collection of its presenter Ivan Gian-Piero. Its a fun wierd and crazy journey through a period that broke all the rules and sparked a revolution and lit the imaginations of an entire young Generation X.
